Yiraybagarra means Sun Rising in Wiradjuri language.
When Yiray rises she brings with her a new day, This painting is a reflection of the sun kissing the ocean waves. It symbolises new beginnings and opportunity. Our people relied on Yiray to bring life and abundance to their Country and people.
The bottom of the painting represents beneath the surface, the middle layer represents the crashing waves & the top blue layer represents the sea mist that fills the ocean air. The top of the painting is Yiray, our Sun, rising across the ocean waves.
This painting took me over 3 months to complete, It consists of hundreds of thousands of dots & was made with patience and love.
